Fiscal Impact:

The total cost of the project was $45,765 and is funded through the Community Development Block Grant. No additional appropriation is necessary.

Summary:

The contractor, Landscape Structures, Inc., along with its subcontractor TotLot Pros, has satisfactorily completed all work in accordance with the project specifications. The final inspection was conducted by City staff on September 5, 2025.

The newly installed shade structures greatly enhance the playground experience for users, providing much-needed relief from the sun and other weather elements. These thoughtful improvements are a testament to the City’s commitment to maintaining high-quality recreational amenities for our community, ensuring that all residents can enjoy our beautiful parks.

Background:

On January 28, 2025, the City Manager authorized the procurement of shade structures and installation under the City’s Purchasing & Procurement Policy. The contractor selected was Landscape Structures, Inc. (“LSI”). LSI installed the existing playground equipment in 2017, and its shade structure provides the most compatibility within the space. LSI has a current contract in place with CMAS (No. 4-23-01-1051), which includes both Playground-Equipment Shade and Service-Equipment Installation. In purchasing through CMAS, the City received a 6% discount on materials.
